How it Works

This Add On for Paid Memberships Pro adds a validation link to the membership confirmation email sent to members when signing up for selected levels on your site. The validation link can manually be added to email templates using: !!validation_link!!.

The membership becomes active for the user, but they cannot access members-only content until validating their email address.

Installation

You must have the Paid Memberships Pro plugin installed and activated with a valid license type to use this Add On.

  1. Navigate to Memberships > Add Ons in the WordPress admin.
  2. Locate the Add On and click Install Now.
    • To install this plugin manually, download the .zip file above, then upload the compressed directory via the Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin screen in the WordPress admin.
  3. Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen in the WordPress admin.

Once installed and activated, edit the Paid Memberships Pro levels that should require email validation. Navigate in the level settings to “Email Confirmation” and check the “require email validation for this level” checkbox.

Manually Validate a User (as Administrator or Membership Manager)

The Administrator or Membership Manager can manually validate any user through the dashboard by clicking the “Validate User” button on the Memberships > Members List or Users admin page.

You can validate a user from the Memberships > Members List or the Users admin page. Just hover over the username and a link to “Validate User” will appear.

Customizing the Email Templates

The Email Confirmation Add On automatically appends a validation link to checkout email confirmations for memberships. This feature streamlines the process of verifying new members’ email addresses. If you wish to customize these emails further, here’s how you can do it:

  1. Navigate to Memberships > Settings > Email Templates.
  2. Select the email template for “Checkout” based on the level that has the requirement of validation.
  3. Within the chosen email template, you can adjust the wording, add additional information, or modify the layout to better align with your brand’s messaging. The validation link is included in the checkout emails, so you don’t need to manually add it.
  4. Save the changes.

Users can request for the email confirmation to be resent. Customize this email by navigating to Memberships > Settings > Email Templates > Resend Email Confirmation.
