This Add On adds a “delay” field to membership levels and discount codes, allowing you to set a variable-length period between your initial payment (if required) and recurring subscription payment.

The full list of changes is detailed below:

  • BUG FIX: Fixed issue where specific dates like 2019-07-29 would be converted to 2019-07-31 when used.
  • BUG FIX/ENHANCEMENT: If the profile start date is in the past, we reset it to the current date to avoid issues with the gateways. In general, make sure you don’t set your subscription delays to dates in the past.
  • ENHANCEMENT: You can now use year and placeholder values > 9. So Y1-M18-01 will set the date on the first of the month, 18 months in the future. Be careful since some gateways, like PayPal don’t allow you to setup subscriptions to start more than one year out.

Is there a way to accept the initial payment, then set the delay to indefinite, then allow admin to start the subscription when ready? I want to use this on multisite for selling network sites, where the customer purchases a package, we build it, then start the subscription upon launch. The build time is variable, so it’s hard to determine a specific time frame.

Hello, this is a unique use case as it mainly depends on your payment gateway and if it will allow you to change a users’ subscription. For example, our Stripe Gateway integration is unique in that changes to a user’s existing subscription can be queued up through our “Subscription Updates” feature. You could also consider a once-off membership level and when the multi-site is ready, prompt the user to take out the next membership level with a subscription.
