When you change someone’s membership level through the Edit Profile page in the WordPress admin, you have the option to send them an email about the change and to cancel the existing subscription at the gateway.

This recipe will disable the ability for admins to change membership levels on this page. It hides the entire “Membership Level” section on the Edit User screen.
