As used in these Terms of Use, “Stranger Studios”, “Paid Memberships Pro, “PMPro”, “us” or “we” refers to Stranger Studios, LLC. and its affiliates.
Whether you are purchasing our plugin support and premium Add Ons, hosting your Paid Memberships Pro membership site on PMPro Hosting or enrolling in our courses, it is important to us that you understand the terms that govern our relationship with you.
The following terms apply to the products and services we offer, and vary based on what you have selected to purchase from us.
By engaging with any of our products or services, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.
1. Plugin Support and Premium Add Ons Terms
1. Plugin Licensing
Paid Memberships Pro and all Add Ons, unless otherwise stated, are licensed under the GNU General Public License (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html) version 2.0 or version 3.0.
This means, among other things, that you may use the software on this site or any other site free of charge. You can run this code on as many sites as you want. The code is not obfuscated, so you can customize it to fit your needs or use the code in your own projects.
In fact, you can do pretty much anything you want with our code as long as you follow the GPLv2 guidelines by applying the GPLv2 license to any altered or unaltered versions of our plugins that you distribute.
If you are using an altered version of one of our plugins in one of your projects, we do ask that you:
(a) Give your software a name other than “Paid Memberships Pro” or “PMPro” to avoid confusion.
(b) Notify us of your distributed version so we can potentially promote the distribution if it is a good effort.

2. Warranty
Plugins sold and distributed by Stranger Studios, LLC, are done so in the hope that they will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Inasmuch as WordPress functions correctly on a clean install of itself, Paid Memberships Pro is guaranteed to function on a clean install of the minimum, stable and required version of WordPress for Paid Memberships Pro and our Add Ons. Because the number and variety of plugins is vast and wide, we do not guarantee that the plugin will function with all third-party plugins, themes or browsers of any kind. We do not guarantee that the plugin will function with all combinations of our Add Ons and code gists active. We do not assume responsibility and will not be held responsible for any conflicts or compatibility issues that may occur due to third-party software. We assume no responsibility for any data loss as a result of installing or using Paid Memberships Pro. Should conflicts occur with third-party software, we may provide support at our discretion. Additionally, we are not liable and will not be held responsible for any personal loss, site damage, site errors, theft, fraud, loss of profits or revenue, loss of business or opportunities, or loss of customers or clients as a result of installing or using Paid Memberships Pro.
3. Support
Stranger Studios, LLC, sells and distributes Paid Memberships Pro and other plugins “as is” and with no implied meaning that they will function exactly as you would like, or that they will be compatible with all third-party components and plugins.
Support for plugins sold and distributed by Stranger Studios, LLC, is only available for those who have an active, paid license.
Unless a “lifetime” plan was purchased, support and updates are granted for one year after the original purchase based on the license you have purchased. After one year is completed, the purchaser must renew their license in order to continue receiving support and updates for the items purchased. For purchases that include an automatically renewing subscription, support will be provided for as long as the subscription remains active.
For lifetime plans, support and updates are granted for the lifetime of the product or level purchased. If the details of our plans and products change, we will strive to ensure that lifetime customers get the level of access and service they had at the time of purchase.
Support and updates for Paid Memberships Pro are provided as long as Paid Memberships Pro is actively in development. Should any one of the following occur, Stranger Studios, LLC, will no longer be responsible for providing support for Paid Memberships Pro:
- Paid Memberships Pro is no longer actively developed as a viable product under Stranger Studios, LLC.
- Stranger Studios is purchased or bought out by another company.
- WordPress is no longer actively developed.
Whilst we attempt to provide the best support possible for our plugins, we do not guarantee that any particular support query can, or will be answered to the extent, or within a timeframe that the inquirer is completely satisfied.
Supported Versions
Technical support for Paid Memberships Pro is limited to the three (3) most recent minor releases. We are not obligated to provide support, patches, or compatibility fixes for versions older than the three latest minor versions. Users are responsible for keeping their installations current in accordance with this policy.
4. Subscriptions & Automatic Renewal
Paid Memberships Pro is sold as an automatically recurring subscription that renews each year on the anniversary of the purchase date.
The purchaser’s subscription will automatically renew at the end of the annual license term unless the purchaser cancels their subscription prior to the automatic renewal date.
Please note the following details of Paid Memberships Pro license subscriptions:
- Subscription renewals are automatically processed annually on the anniversary of your original purchase. The license renewal will continue and remain valid for each one (1) year unless the subscription is cancelled prior to the renewal date.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from your Account page on the Paid Memberships Pro website.
- If you choose to cancel your subscription you will no longer receive updates and support for Paid Memberships Pro when your license expires.
- Your renewal price will be locked in at the time of checkout for as long as your membership remains active.
- Legacy pricing: If you choose to cancel your subscription, and your renewal price is lower than the current listed price for your license (a “legacy” price), the lower renewal price may no longer be available to you.
- If you choose to renew your subscription after it has been cancelled and your membership has expired, you will be charged the current listed price for your membership type. We may not apply older or legacy pricing to your new renewal purchase.
- We will send you an email 90, 60, and 30 days prior to your renewal date, and you may use this opportunity to cancel your subscription before the renewal payment is automatically processed
- If you choose to cancel your subscription your membership will expire on the anniversary of the original purchase, and you will no longer receive updates and support for Paid Memberships Pro.
5. License Usage
Stranger Studios, LLC grants each customer a non-transferable license to use the software for internal use, and as defined by the terms set in the customer’s chosen license package.

The customer/license-holder may not on-sell the originally-purchased license key provided by Stranger Studios, LLC, to other users of the license (such as clients) for commercial benefit. Additionally, the customer may not sublicense, to any person or entity, any rights to distribute the software or license key. Stranger Studios will only provide support services to the original customer/license-holder with a legitimate license key, and consider any other uses of this license key for support queries as fraudulent.
Using Your License Key on a Network, Multisite, or For Subdomains
- A subdomain is a domain. This counts as a license key use or separate active site.
- If you are using the Multisite Membership Add On, where one site in your WordPress Network (‘the main site’) controls PMPro, this means that all subsites are connected. This setup will count as a single license key usage.
- If you are running a WordPress Network, with separate PMPro sites across the network, each subsite is a site and will count against your license key uses.
6. Automatic Updates
Automatic updates are available to license holders who have an active and valid subscription and license key. Automatic updates are available for Paid Memberships Pro and all other installed Paid Memberships Pro Add Ons. Automatic updates are available as long as the license key generated from the purchase is valid and active.
7. Plugin Delivery
After we have processed your payment successfully, you will receive an email with your order number and other purchase information. Your license key is available in your account area along with your plugin downloads. You can download the plugin by logging into the account created for you when purchasing the plugin and clicking on the appropriate link.
Should you not receive an email containing your information, you can contact us through https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/contact/ to request your purchase information.
Access to re-download purchased files will be granted so long as your license key is valid. If a license key expires, download access to the associated files will be discontinued until such time as the license key is renewed.
8. Ownership
All plugins are property of Stranger Studios, LLC. Claiming any type of intellectual or exclusive ownership rights of our products is strictly prohibited.
Our plugins are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, expressed or implied. We shall not be liable for any damages, including but not limited to, direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages or losses that occur due to the use or inability to use our plugins.
9. Refund Policy
All of our Paid Memberships Pro platform license memberships include a 100% money-back guarantee.
If within 100 days of purchase you decide not to use our software and services, you may request a full refund. To obtain a refund, you will have to contact us at https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/contact/, including the username, email address, and name on file for the account you wish to cancel. At that time, we will cancel your membership and refund any one-time payment made.
Even if your request comes after 100 days, we will refund your payment as long as technically possible. In fact, if your bank or credit card won’t allow the refund anymore, we will get the information from you to mail you a check or otherwise get your money back to you.
We consider threats of refunds as refund requests and will process them immediately.
If your original purchase was made in a non-USD currency, we cannot guarantee that the exchange rate at the time of the refund will be the same as the time of your purchase. Your refund will be based on the USD amount of the purchase and may result in a higher or lower amount of currency you purchased in being credited to your accounts.
2. PMPro Hosting Terms
1. Hosting Model and Scope of Services
Our hosting service provisions one dedicated DigitalOcean droplet per site. Each hosting environment is customized based on the individual site’s requirements. We manage the server and its underlying configuration, which may include third-party services such as Cloudflare, server-side caching, or other security and performance tools. You are responsible for all WordPress-level administration, including plugins, themes, content, and user access.
2. Acceptable Use
You may not use the hosting service for any illegal activity, malware distribution, spam, abusive traffic generation, phishing, harassment, or any other use that violates applicable law or is reasonably deemed harmful by us. Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to:
- Hosting adult content
- Sending bulk unsolicited emails
- Cryptocurrency mining
- Violating intellectual property rights
- Circumventing security measures
If your website or its content violates this acceptable use policy, we will issue one warning and allow seven days for corrective action. If the issue is not resolved, we may require you to assume full control of your DigitalOcean droplet.
In some cases, your website or its content may also be in violation of the DigitalOcean Acceptable Use Policy. In this case, we will assist by providing an export of your files and database.
3. Resource Usage
There are no set CPU, bandwidth, or storage limits beyond what is physically allocated to your DigitalOcean droplet. However, excessive use that causes server instability or service degradation may require an upgrade to a larger droplet or other adjustments. We will notify you if such a need arises.
4. Backups and Data Protection
We configure automated DigitalOcean backups at the server level as a precaution, but you are ultimately responsible for ensuring your data is safely stored. We may offer additional backup solutions in the future. You should maintain your own regular backup routines, especially for dynamic content or ecommerce data.
We do not guarantee the availability, completeness, or integrity of any backup we may have on file.
5. Security Responsibilities
We maintain security of the underlying server infrastructure, including system-level updates, firewalls, and access controls. You are responsible for securing your WordPress environment, including:
- Keeping core WordPress, plugins, and themes up to date
- Managing strong passwords and secure login
- Controlling who has administrative access and requiring the use of 2FA to protect your site
- Removing unused users or plugins
6. Billing and Suspension
Hosting plans may be billed monthly or annually. If your hosting subscription becomes overdue, we follow a phased approach:
- Grace Period: You have 21 days after a missed payment where your site remains online and accessible. We will make attempts to contact you during this time.
- Suspension: After 21 days without payment, your site will be suspended.
- Deletion: If the issue is still unresolved, your site and its data may be permanently deleted.
If you need to access your data during or after a suspension, contact support immediately. While we may be able to help recover a backup, this is not guaranteed.
7. Limitation of Liability
We make no guarantees about uptime, data integrity, or server performance. Hosting is provided “as is” and without warranty. You agree that Stranger Studios, LLC will not be held liable for any damages, loss of data, downtime, lost profits, or any other consequence resulting from use of our hosting services.
Third-Party Services and Providers
Our hosting infrastructure includes services provided by third parties such as DigitalOcean (cloud infrastructure), Cloudflare (DNS, caching, and security), and other server-level software and monitoring tools.
By using our hosting services, you also agree to comply with the relevant terms, policies, and acceptable use guidelines of these providers:
- DigitalOcean Terms of Service

- DigitalOcean DMCA Copyright Policy
- Cloudflare Terms of Service
- Cloudflare Acceptable Use Policy
These providers may update their policies at any time. We are not responsible for changes to or violations of their terms. You are encouraged to review their current terms directly.
8. Refund Policy
PMPro Hosting is a pay-as-you-go service, billed monthly or annually. Because hosting resources are provisioned individually and require active management and costs on our end, we do not offer a standard 100-day refund window for hosting services.
However, we want to be fair:
- Monthly Plans: If you cancel mid-month, your hosting service will remain active until the end of your current billing period. We do not issue prorated refunds for unused time, but we may, at our discretion, offer a refund of up to 100% of the most recent monthly payment if the cancellation occurs early in the billing cycle.
- Annual Plans: If you cancel an annual hosting plan within 30 days of purchase, you may request a full refund of the amount paid. After 30 days, we will issue a refund for the unused portion of your prepaid plan.
In all cases, receiving a refund will result in immediate termination of your hosting account. We will provide one final export of your files and database, after which time your site and its data will be permanently deleted.
We evaluate all refund requests individually. If you have concerns about your billing or service, please contact us so we can assist.
9. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these Hosting Terms at any time. If we make significant changes, we will update the last updated date on this page.
3. Website & Plugin Content
All content found on this site and throughout the plugin including images, documentation, support queries and any other information is property of Stranger Studios, LLC and may not be redistributed without permission or consent.
4. Price Changes
Stranger Studios, LLC, reserves the right to modify, change, cancel or upgrade a plugin subscription and/or license key without prior notice or consent. Prices of all products are subject to change without prior notice or consent.
5. Email
Stranger Studios, LLC, may occasionally send you emails related to the purchase of product(s) from our company. We may also send you occasional email newsletters relating to Paid Memberships Pro updates, promotions, Add Ons and the like. We will never sell or release your email to any third party vendors. You may opt out of these emails at any time without penalty.
6. Privacy
We take your privacy very seriously. Our full privacy policy can be viewed here. Consenting to our terms of service indicates consent to our privacy policy as well.
7. Affiliate Disclosure
Some of our posts and pages contain affiliate links. If you click on an affiliate link and later make a purchase, we may receive a commission.
Clicking on an affiliate link which earns a commission does NOT result in additional charges to you or cost you anything extra.
Our affiliate links serve two purposes: they provide us with compensation for our referral and also help us identify what products, services, and third parties are the most desirable to our users.

8. License Agreement
By purchasing our product(s), you indicate and consent that you have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions listed and detailed on this page. We reserve the right to change or modify the current Terms and Conditions without prior notice or consent.
9. Changes
We are constantly updating our Services, and that means sometimes we have to change the legal terms under which our Services are offered. If we make changes that are material, we will let you know by posting on one of our blogs, or by sending you an email or other communication before the changes take effect. The notice will designate a reasonable period of time after which the new terms will take effect. If you disagree with our changes, then you should stop using our Services within the designated notice period. Your continued use of our Services will be subject to the new terms. However, any dispute that arose before the changes shall be governed by the Terms (including the binding individual arbitration clause) that were in place when the dispute arose.
10. Right to Terminate
If you wish to terminate this Agreement or your Paid Memberships Pro account (if you have one), you may simply discontinue using our Services. All provisions of this Agreement which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability.
Stranger Studios, LLC. reserves the unequivocal right to terminate or cancel any memberships or subscriptions at its sole discretion, without the necessity of providing any reason. Such termination may be effected at any time and without prior notice to the subscriber or member.
Termination or cancellation of subscriptions or memberships may occur under various circumstances, including, but not limited to:
- The subscriber expresses a desire to discontinue the use of Stranger Studios, LLC.’s services or platforms.
- The subscriber experiences and communicates issues or dissatisfaction with the functionality or performance of Stranger Studios, LLC.’s products or services.
- Non-compliance with any part of the terms of service or any other policies that Stranger Studios, LLC. may have in place.
In the event of termination or cancellation, a refund for the most recent payment may be issued at the company’s discretion. Refunds will only be processed using the original payment method used at the time of purchase.
- Refund Eligibility: The eligibility for receiving a refund will be determined by Stranger Studios, LLC. based on the specific circumstances of the subscription or membership cancellation. Not all terminations or cancellations may warrant a refund.
- Refund Processing: Once a refund is approved, it will be processed promptly, and funds will be returned to the original payment method used during the initial transaction. Please note that processing times may vary depending on the payment provider.
11. Translation
These Terms of Service were originally written in English (US). We may translate these terms into other languages. In the event of a conflict between a translated version of these Terms of Service and the English version, the English version will control.
12. Severability
If any part of this agreement is declared unenforceable or invalid, all remaining clauses in this agreement shall remain binding on the customer.
