Memberlite is the official theme for Paid Memberships Pro: a hybrid theme that pairs the familiar WordPress Customizer with the block editor tools in WordPress (Gutenberg), so you can design your site visually without leaving the admin.

This is your documentation hub. Start with the guides below, or browse every page in the sidebar menu.

We also have a collection of blog posts and advanced tutorials for designing your membership site with Memberlite here.

Download Memberlite

Memberlite is free with any Paid Memberships Pro account. This guide walks you through downloading the theme, installing it, and setting up the Memberlite Child Theme.

Getting Started

Where each type of Memberlite setting lives in your WordPress dashboard, and the order to configure them when you set up your site for the first time.

Alerts

Memberlite > Alerts lists anything to review after a theme update, with one-click fixes where there is one. Start here after updating to Memberlite 8.0.

Customizer Settings

Most of your site’s visual settings live in the Customizer under Appearance > Customize. Changes preview live before you publish them.

Memberlite’s built-in header and footer work out of the box. This page covers their settings, colors, and widget areas.

Build your own header and footer layouts in the block editor, then assign them site-wide, by content type, or to a single page.

Page and Post Settings

Change how a single page or post looks from panels in the block editor sidebar.

  • Layout and custom sidebars
  • Banner image and masthead settings
  • Header and footer overrides

Memberlite’s menu locations, the logged-in and logged-out member menus, the Custom Menus tool, and how the mobile menu works.

Add widgets to Memberlite’s widget areas, create custom sidebars, and assign them to single pages, posts, or whole custom post types.

Block Patterns

More than 40 ready-made sections for membership sites, including heroes, pricing tables, testimonials, and calls to action. Insert one and edit it like any other blocks.

Block Styles

Alternate designs Memberlite adds to WordPress blocks, including the Card style for groups, columns, query loops, and the PMPro Single Level block.

Memberlite Shortcodes

Shortcodes for content you can’t build with blocks, or for places blocks aren’t supported.

Tools

Import, export, or reset your Memberlite theme settings from Memberlite > Tools. Use these tools to back up your design or copy it to another site.

Action Hook Reference

Action hooks for adding content or running code at specific places in Memberlite’s templates.

Filter Hook Reference

Filter hooks for changing Memberlite’s output and settings with custom code, including the layout filters added in 8.0.

Paid Memberships Pro will work with any WordPress theme. Certain themes with dark backgrounds or heavy styling may need to have some CSS rules added to your stylesheet to ensure that text is readable.
