Memberlite 8.0 removed the Memberlite Settings box from the page editor, along with the Landing Page template. If your pages used a banner description, a bottom banner, a page icon, or the Landing Page template’s price and checkout button, those settings stop showing on your site when you update.

Nothing you entered is lost. Memberlite moves every setting you filled in to a custom field on the same page. The six code recipes in this post read those custom fields and show each setting again, so you can bring back only the pieces your site still uses.

Do You Need These Recipes?

After you update to Memberlite 8.0, go to Memberlite > Alerts in the WordPress admin. If any of your pages had these settings filled in, you will see an alert titled “Page settings Memberlite no longer shows” with a list of those pages.

The settings Memberlite no longer shows are:

  • Banner description, banner right column, and page bottom banner
  • Extra banner padding
  • Page icon and “Show Icon in Banner Title”
  • The Landing Page template’s membership level, checkout button text, and level upsell

The banner settings that are still supported (show or hide the banner, the title, and the breadcrumbs, plus text alignment) are now in the block editor’s Page Settings panel. You do not need a recipe for those.

If the alert lists pages where you want a setting to keep showing, add the matching recipe below. If you no longer need a setting, delete its custom field from the page instead. When no listed pages have the custom fields left, the alert clears.

Best Practices and Considerations

  • Check the values first: To see a page’s custom fields, open it in the block editor and turn on Custom fields in the editor’s Preferences. The Custom Fields panel shows below the page content, where you can edit or delete each value.
  • Consider blocks instead of the landing page recipe: Paid Memberships Pro’s blocks cover what the Landing Page template did, and you can arrange them however you like in the page content. Use the Membership Checkout Button block for the button, the Single Membership Level block (with Level Price and Level Description inside it) for the level details, and the shortcode from the Advanced Levels Page Shortcode Add On for the upsell.
  • Clean up landing page fields before adding that recipe: The old settings box kept a page’s landing page fields even after you switched it back to the default template, and the update moved those too. The landing page recipe runs on every page with a memberlite_landing_page_level custom field. Check each page in the alert and delete the landing page fields from pages that are not landing pages anymore.
  • Imported content gets its own alert: If you import pages from an older site, they may bring the old hidden fields with them. Memberlite > Alerts shows an “Old page settings to move” alert with a Move to custom fields button that runs the same update on those pages.
  • The recipes only run on pages: The Memberlite Settings box was only on pages, so posts and custom post types are not affected.

About the Code Recipes

When you update to Memberlite 8.0, each setting that was filled in moves to a custom field with almost the same name as before (the old hidden name started with an underscore). Settings that were empty are deleted.

Pages that used the Landing Page template switch to the default template with the Right Sidebar layout, which matches how the template looked.

Each recipe reads one of these custom fields and adds it back to the page using Memberlite’s banner and page hooks. Anyone who can edit a page can add custom fields to it, so the recipes clean each value with wp_kses_post() before showing it.

The Code Recipes

Add only the recipes for the settings you want to keep. Each one works on its own.

Banner Description

Shows the memberlite_banner_desc custom field below the page title in the banner, the same place it showed before.

Banner Right Column

This recipe shows the memberlite_banner_right custom field below the banner description instead of beside it.

Page Bottom Banner

Shows the memberlite_banner_bottom custom field in a full-width banner above the footer. Memberlite no longer includes styles for this banner, so the recipe adds its own. The banner is hidden when the page is printed.

Extra Banner Padding

Adds extra space above and below the banner content on pages with the memberlite_banner_extra_padding custom field.

Page Icon in the Banner Title

Shows the page’s Font Awesome icon before the page title. The page needs both the memberlite_page_icon and memberlite_banner_icon custom fields.

Landing Page Level, Price, and Checkout Button

Shows the membership level’s price and a checkout button in the banner, plus the level description when the page has no banner description. After the page content, it shows the checkout button again and, if you set an upsell level, that level from the Advanced Levels Page Shortcode Add On. The Landing Page template also showed the featured image in the banner. This recipe leaves that out.

Adding the Recipe to Your Website

You can add this recipe to your site by creating a custom plugin or using the Code Snippets plugin available for free in the WordPress repository. Read this companion article for step-by-step directions on either method.

How to Customize This Code Recipe

  • Bottom banner colors (line 52): In the page bottom banner recipe, change var(--memberlite-color-secondary) to another color, such as var(--memberlite-color-primary) or a hex value like #1a3a4a.
  • Extra padding amount (line 41): In the extra banner padding recipe, change both spacing--50 values to a larger or smaller Memberlite spacing size, from spacing--10 up to spacing--70.
  • Banner right column position (line 38): In the banner right column recipe, the 15 runs it after the banner description. Change it to 5 to show the right column content above the description.
  • Default button text (line 47): In the landing page recipe, Select is the button text for pages without a memberlite_landing_page_checkout_button custom field. Change it to your own default, like Join Now.
  • Price size (line 80): In the landing page recipe, change font-size--36 to adjust the size of the level price in the banner.
