The Paid Memberships Pro Mailchimp Integration Add On allows your members to be subscribed to a Mailchimp list of your choice when they sign up for a membership. This guide will help you troubleshoot members that aren’t successfully subscribed to your chosen Mailchimp list.
1. Check Required Fields in Mailchimp
You may have edited form fields previously that could have been used on your website elsewhere, setting them to required or using a different field name. A member won’t be subscribed to a list unless all required fields have been filled out and their field names match both by name and case.

When editing a form, ensure that no fields have been set to ‘required’, as any field that gets set to the API that is empty will result in an error, resulting in your member not being subscribed to your list.
2. Do Your Merge Tags Match?
This ties back to the above documentation that is provided by Mailchimp on editing a form. If you’ve added any additional merge tags using a code recipe, you’ll need to ensure that your merge tag in the recipe matches the field name exactly as displayed in Mailchimp.
Mailchimp field names are typically referenced in uppercase alpha characters.
3. Enable Debugging

Once debugging has been enabled, run a test to subscribe a member to your list, either by proceeding through the checkout process, or hitting the ‘Save Profile’ button when editing a member’s profile through the WordPress Dashboard.
